Madeon – Lonely Space Age

Madeon pulls up with Lonely Space Age, a French electronic music record that takes the feeling of being isolated in a world moving too fast and turns it into something you actually want to sit inside for a while.

The track moves on a lush, cinematic electronic production that builds the kind of wide open atmosphere the title promises, with vocal elements and synth work that feel like they belong to a specific emotional frequency that not many producers know how to tune into this precisely. The record has that bittersweet quality that Madeon does better than almost anyone in his space, where something that should feel sad somehow ends up feeling strangely beautiful and a little comforting by the time it ends.

Madeon has been one of the more artistically serious figures in electronic music since his early prodigy days, building through albums like Good Faith a reputation for records that go deeper than the genre usually allows itself to go without losing the audience along the way. He is an artist who takes creative risks that most producers in his position would avoid and his catalogue rewards the listeners who actually follow him into those less comfortable places.

This one is best experienced with headphones somewhere quiet where the production can actually do everything it was designed to do to your head and your chest at the same time.
