Hammerboi – Egiagie

Hammerboi returns to Nigerian roots with Egiagie, an Edo influenced record that carries the warmth and cultural pride of Southern Nigerian expression wrapped in a contemporary production that feels both rooted and relevant.

Egiagie moves through a rhythmic Afrobeats production with traditional Edo undertones and percussion that give the track a distinctive regional character setting it apart from the more generic end of the genre. The vocals carry a confident pride throughout and the lyrical direction celebrates identity and heritage, making the listening experience feel grounded in something specific and real rather than broadly commercial.

Hammerboi continues to prove that their creative range is one of their greatest strengths, moving through celebratory Afrobeats, South Asian fusion and now this culturally specific Edo influenced record with the ease of an artist who draws from genuine lived experience rather than trend research. Their growing catalogue is becoming one of the more culturally rich and diverse bodies of work in the independent African music space right now.

This track carries the particular pride of an artist representing their roots without apology, the kind of song that makes cultural identity feel like something worth celebrating loudly rather than explaining quietly.

Stay Tuned and Enjoy!
