FIFTY FIFTY – Genie Magic

FIFTY FIFTY conjures something playful and irresistibly charming with Genie Magic, a bright and whimsical K-pop record that wraps the feeling of wishful romantic fantasy in a production so warm and melodically satisfying it feels genuinely enchanting from the very first listen.

The production carries a light and sparkly pop energy built on bouncy instrumentation and a melodic sensibility that creates an atmosphere of pure and uncomplicated delight, giving all four members the space to deliver performances full of personality and genuine charm that make the imaginative premise of the lyric feel completely earned. Genie Magic moves through its runtime with the kind of infectious lightness that belongs specifically to music made by people who are genuinely enjoying what they are creating, combining a hook strong enough to stay in your head well after the record has ended with a production quality that rewards close and repeat listening in equal measure.

FIFTY FIFTY continues to demonstrate across every new release that the global breakthrough they achieved with Cupid was not a fortunate accident but the first visible evidence of a group with genuine musical talent and a real instinct for creating pop music that connects with listeners far beyond the traditional boundaries of the K-pop audience. The creative consistency and the growing artistic confidence visible in the output since that initial moment of international recognition reflects a group that has been using the attention wisely, developing a more fully realised artistic identity with each successive project rather than simply trying to repeat the formula that first put them on the global map.

There is a genuinely magical and completely irresistible quality to this record that makes it the kind of music you find yourself returning to not because you consciously decided to but because the melody has quietly taken up permanent residence somewhere in the back of your mind and occasionally makes itself known at moments when you least expect it.

Stay Tuned and Enjoy!
