Forrest Rose – Small Steps

Forrest Rose returns with Small Steps, a folk influenced singer and songwriter record about the unglamorous but necessary process of moving forward when the big leaps are not available to you and the small ones are all you have got.

This song sits on a sparse, gentle production that feels like it was recorded close to the microphone with nothing unnecessary in the room, the kind of sound that forces the writing to carry the weight and the writing here is more than capable of doing exactly that. The record has a patience to it that suits the subject matter perfectly and by the time it ends you feel like something quiet but real just happened to you without you fully noticing when it started.

From a great artist developing a catalogue that rewards people who actually listen rather than just play music in the background, with First Hello already showing a songwriter willing to find meaning in moments that most people walk past without stopping. She is the kind of artist who will keep getting discovered by new listeners for years because the music does not have an expiry date attached to it.

Mainly for the days when progress feels invisible and you need something that understands that without trying to talk you out of how that actually feels.

Listen and Enjoy!
