SALIMA CHICA – AWA

SALIMA CHICA arrives with cultural flair and feminine energy on AWA, a West African-influenced record that blends traditional rhythmic sensibility with a contemporary sound that feels both proudly rooted and globally accessible.

AWA moves on a percussion-driven production that draws from West African musical traditions, layered with melodic elements and a vocal performance that carries the confidence and warmth of an artist completely at home in the sound she is creating. The record sits in a space where Afropop and traditional West African music meet naturally rather than collide, giving it a flow and cohesion that makes the listening experience feel like a cultural celebration rather than a genre experiment, rewarding listeners who appreciate music with genuine heritage behind its production choices.

SALIMA CHICA is an artist building her identity around a sound that honours her West African musical roots while speaking to a contemporary audience hungry for music that carries real cultural substance alongside its commercial appeal. Her releases reflect a growing creative confidence and a clear artistic vision centred on bringing the richness of her cultural background into a modern musical context without diluting or apologising for any part of what makes that background worth celebrating.

This record has a vibrant, grounded energy that makes you want to move and feel connected to something larger than the moment you are standing in, the kind of music that carries its culture as proudly as it carries its groove.

Stay Tuned and Enjoy!
