Guchi – Ganja

Guchi leans into a hazy, feel-good Afrobeats mood with Ganja, a record from the Nigerian singer that uses a familiar metaphor to explore the intoxicating feeling of being completely consumed by someone you cannot get enough of.

Ganja floats on a laid-back, melodic Afrobeats production with a dreamy rhythm and warm instrumentation that perfectly mirrors the cloud-like emotional state the lyrical concept is reaching for, making the listening experience feel as relaxed and pleasurable as the feeling being described. The vocal delivery stays effortlessly smooth throughout, carrying the romantic obsession at the heart of the song with a lightness and charm that keeps the record feeling fun rather than desperate, and that tonal balance is exactly what makes it so easy to replay.

Guchi has been building her reputation in the Nigerian music scene as one of its most distinctive female voices, known for records that blend melodic Afrobeats with an intimate and personality-driven vocal style that makes her instantly recognisable within a competitive and crowded industry. Her releases consistently demonstrate an artist who knows how to make a concept work musically rather than simply lyrically, which is a rare skill that her growing fanbase recognises and responds to with genuine enthusiasm.

This record has the kind of warm, addictive pull that makes total sense given what it is actually about, a song that gets under your skin in the most enjoyable way possible and makes you reach for the replay button before you have even consciously decided to do it.
