Tony Oneweek – Poverty Unfollow Me

Tony Oneweek brings his signature humour and street wisdom together on Poverty Unfollow Me, a Nigerian record that tackles financial struggle with the kind of witty, relatable directness that only an artist deeply connected to his audience can pull off.

Poverty Unfollow Me rides on an upbeat, Afrobeats-influenced production with a chorus built around a social media metaphor that is both brilliantly simple and immediately memorable, making the song feel like it was written by someone who truly understands the daily economic realities facing ordinary Nigerians. The lyrical approach stays sharp and humorous without trivialising the subject, giving the record a rare quality of making people laugh and nod in agreement at the same time, which is exactly the kind of emotional double-tap that turns a song into something people genuinely share.

Tony Oneweek has built a devoted following in the Nigerian music and entertainment space through a combination of comic sensibility, street credibility and an ability to translate everyday struggles into music that feels both cathartic and celebratory for listeners who recognise themselves in every lyric. His releases consistently demonstrate an artist who understands his audience deeply and delivers music that speaks their language with precision, authenticity and a wit that sets him clearly apart from the crowd.

This record has the energy of a community laughing together at a shared pain and choosing to keep pushing anyway, which is exactly the kind of music Nigeria always needs more of and never seems to have quite enough of.
