Handy P – Eye Red

Handy P taps into something raw and unapologetically charged with Eye Red, a hard-hitting Afrobeats and street pop record that speaks directly to the frustration and hunger of someone who has been watching from the outside long enough and is done waiting for permission to take what belongs to them.

The production hits with a sharp and aggressive energy that sits perfectly beneath a vocal delivery full of grit and focused intensity, creating a listening experience that feels genuinely alive and personally motivated rather than assembled from the most commercially available ingredients currently circulating in the genre. Eye Red channels its emotional fuel into a record that understands the specific anger of ambition that has been overlooked for too long, translating that feeling into music with enough rhythmic drive and lyrical directness to make the message land in the body before the mind has fully processed the words being delivered.

Handy P has been building a creative presence in the African street pop and Afrobeats space through a consistent output that reflects a genuine personal perspective rather than a calculated attempt to fit into whatever lane happens to be most crowded at any given moment, and the catalog surrounding this release reflects an artist whose creative voice is becoming more confident and more distinctively individual with every project that adds another dimension to an increasingly compelling body of work. The audience paying attention to this artist has responded to exactly that quality of authentic self-expression, recognising in the music a creative personality that is not performing a version of itself for external approval but simply making exactly the record it feels the need to make.

There is a restless and forward-driving energy to this track that makes it the kind of music you reach for specifically when you need something playing that understands the particular feeling of being completely done with whatever has been standing between you and where you know you are supposed to be.
